SVS 33

28. OM STHANAVE NAMA:
Everlasting; bestower of Constant and Everlasting results; blesses Consistently.

Today's[ 27th March 2008] lecture is from Amma Mandapam, on the banks of river Kaveri, in Srirangam. The Lord Sri Ranganatha visits this place yearly twice - one on Padhinettam perukku, in Aadi month and second on Chitra pournami, for enacting Gajendra Moksham.
Sthanu means steady like a rock and never changes. He grants the permanent Moksham. He is steady and He grants us the everlasting Moksham. When Sri Rama entered Dhandakaaranya along with Sri Sita and Lakshmana, many sages came to welcome Him. Sri Rama noticed that many of them had lost their limbs and other organs, as the rakshasas there wanted the sages not to perform any pooja. He took a vow, therefore, to destroy all those who harmed righteous persons. Sri Sita, when alone with Sri Rama, asked how He was justified to destroy rakshasas, who did no harm to Sri Rama. At that time speaking out His mind, He declared that He might abandon Sri Sita or Lakshmana, but not His vow to save sages and good persons. Thereby He stood on firm ground to protect good people.
