SVS 32

27. OM SHIVAYA NAMA:
Donates auspiciousness to all.

We see a small Ivory piece of an Ivory palanquin, used for the Lord of Devar malai, long ago. Such remnants and other Vahanams here, bring to us the sad decline of once a grand temple that flourished here. All these have happened because of our indifference and only Lord Sri Narasimha should motivate us to bring the earlier Majesty of this temple. It is requested that all persons listening should light a lamp and chant Sri Vishnu Saharanamam and pray for early renovation of this temple. It is believed that our requirements would be fulfilled if we offer sarkarai pongal to Sri Lakshmi Narayana here, on a Monday.
Shiva is the 3rd Divine Name in this 4th sloka. Shiva means auspicious. Bhadram, Kalyanam, Mangalam and Shivam denote auspiciousness. Because He is an embodiment of Mangalam and so He is able to shower Mangalam on all those approaching Him. Swami Desika says in Sri Sthuthi, that She blesses Mangalam in matters that become auspicious. He removes all bad things and establishes Mangalam and so He is Shiva. This is the 27 th Divine name and the digits add up to 9, a favourite number of Sri Narasimha. Mantra Rajan has 9 words and 32 syllables.
