SVS 23

18. OM YOGAYA NAMA :
He is the Means to reach Him as Destination.

Today's lecture is from the sannidhi of Sri Sudarsana, in Sri Ahobila Mutt at Triplicane, Chennai. Sri Sudarsana is gracing with Sixteen arms holding Sixteen types of weapons. On the other side Sri Nrusimha is in the Yoga form. Worshiping here will remove all our confusions and fears.
This is the first name in the seven names in third sloka. Here Yoga means that He is the upayam or means to reach Him. To reach Vaikuntam, He alone is the means. In the Charama sloka of Gita [ sarva dharman...], Sri Krishna tells Arjuna, 'maasucha' ['don't worry']. He tells that Arjuna should do his prescribed duty sincerely dedicating to the Lord and surrender to Him, alone. He will release Arjuna from all sins and reach Him to Vaikuntam. Swami Desika says that the Lord, reclining as Sri Yatoktakaari, in Kanchipuram, is gracing as Sri Varadaraja. It means that by worshiping the Lord here, one can reach Sri Varadaraja and get all our needs granted. Swami Pillai Lokacharya says it is like 'pullai kaatti pul iduvar pola' If there is an obstinate cow unwilling to come to the grazing area, then by first showing hand full of grass, it is enticed to come to the grass field. Similarly, by admiring His images in temples, we are captivated by Him and we reach Him in Vaikuntam.
