SVS 215 [Ajo - 206] (22.7)

206. OM AJAYA NAMA: अजाय नम:
He appeared from a pillar, unlike others' births.

Divine name Aja: is being dedicated to Sri Pavana Narasimha [श्री पावन नरसिम्ह]. Among the Nava Narasimhas in Ahobilam Kshetram, reaching Sri Jwala Narasimha and the Ugra Stamba [श्री ज्वाला नरसिम्ह, उग्र स्थम्ब], and Sri Pavana Narasimha sannidhis are very difficult. Even reaching the sannidhi of Sri Jwala Narasimha is possible, but reaching Sri Pavana Narasimha sannidhi is so difficult that those who are fortunate to reach and worship, are blessed ones. Even water for drinking will not be available, though this Kshetram has river Bhavanasini. Hard terrain and steep rising paths, make travelling difficult. Still we should try to worship at least once in our lifetime. Since, He eliminates our sins [papa], this Narasimha has this name. Even those who have abandoned varnaashrama dharma [duties prescribed by Shastras], like sandhyavandanam, etc., could worship the Lord here and eradicate the papa accumulated, by not following Shastras. Hunters here are called Chenchu [செஞ்சு] and they consider the Lord here as their community God. The pillar delivered the Lord Sri Narasimha. Normally, a woman, about to deliver a child, has many physical indications. But that pillar which delivered the Lord, did not show any external indications, says Pillai Perumal Iyengar! Since the Lord is considered as the Father of lord Brahma, the pillar in a way is the Paternal Grand mother to lord Brahma! Maha Vishnu in Mantra Rajan is dedicated to Sri Pavana Narasimha. By worshiping the Lord here, greatest sins like bramha hatthi disha [பிரம்ம ஹத்தி தோஷம் - crime of killing a vedic brahmin]. That is why, when sage Bharadwaj, who was affected by bramha hatthi dosha, he worshiped and got all papa cleared.
