SVS 153 [Jeta -150] (16.8)

150. OM JETRE NAMA: जेत्रे नम:
Ruling those Two.

We are in Devar Malai. Many have participated in the reconstruction of the temple. Sri Ugra Narasimha is with Sri Maha Lakshmi in His chest. Water here is Brahma theertham as it is associated with the Lord. It is dry now, thanks to the environment contamination, to which we have all contributed. Let us at least pray that the Lord should bless water when the samprokshanam festival takes place after the temple is fully reconstructed. Like vijaya, jeta means victorious. He is responsible for the success of lord Brahma and lord Shiva. In Swami Madhwa commentary, an episode from Srimad Ramayana is illustrated here. Once, as requested by Devas, a competition was arranged between lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. At that time, Lord Vishnu made a hoonkaram [sort of nasal sound to exhibit bravery] and it caused a fracture in lord Shiva's bow. The Devas instantly accepted the superiority of Lord Vishnu. This incident is mentioned in Srimad Ramayana, Bala khand, when Sri Rama met Sri Parashurama. Devas mentioned the name jeta there. Sri Parashurama hands over the bow of Lord Vishnu, to Sri Rama and challenges to shoot arrows from that bow. When Sri Rama successfully does that Sri Parashurama, says that He had realized Who Sri Rama was. He should succeed in driving out our ignorance.
