SVS 60

54. OM STHAVIRAYA NAMA: स्थविराय नम:
Always permanent.

Dwayam mantra is also called Saranagathi mantra and has to be learnt from an Acharya. To get a good Acharya, we can chant,
srimad ramanuja sharanau sharanam prabhatye
srimate ramanujaya nama:
We are at Srirangam. Sri Ranganatha, authorised Swami Ramanuja to manage all the affairs in Srirangam temple and he was called Udaiyavar. Sthavira denotes resoluteness. He is resolute; He grants permanency; and with a resolute grants permanency. He is the basis for our existence. There is mutual dependence between atma and the Lord. This is explicit by the word Narayana. Nara means atma and so He is the repository for all atma; or, He resides in each atma and so He is Narayana. All souls undergo changes by resorting to various bodies, but not He. He is called avikaraya meaning never changing. He is the supporter and we are the supported.
