SVS 154 [Viswayoni: - 151] (16.9)

151. OM VISWAYONAYE NAMA: विस्वयोनये नम:
He is the Cause of the Effect Universe so formed by those Two.

We are at Ramagiri, near Devarmalai. Here we can worship Sri Kalyana Narasimha. From here we can reach nearby Kadavur, where we can worship Sri Karuna Narasimha. To the lecturer [UVe Sri Ananthapadmanabhachariyar] the Lord Sri Kalyana Narasimha blessed to compose a sloka incorporating all the Nine Divine names in Sri Mantraraja:
Ugraroopaya veeraya vishnave anupatejate Sarvastitaya simhaya sri nrusimhaya mangalam| Bhimaya bhadra roopaya mrutyu kalaya devate Kalyanapura vasaya sri nrusimhaya mangalam||
By worshiping all the three Kshetrams in the same day, starting from Devar malai, followed by Sri Kalyana Narasimha and Sri Karuna Narasimha, all our miseries would certainly vanish. All these three Kshetrams form a Triangle. In Ramagiri, the Lord is gracing with Sri MahaLakshmi and so is in Kalyana pose. Kalyana suggests auspiciousness or mangalam or bhadram. In fact, Bhadram denotes Sri Narasimha. This temple also is being renovated. We have seen that the Lord is the Prime Cause for everything. In Swami Madhvacharya Bhashyam, this Divine name Viswayoni is interpreted to mean Garuda. Of all the festivals in any temple the Lord on Garuda vahanam is very important. Here in Ramagiri, outside the temple are the sannidhi of Garuda and Anjaneya. Lighting lamps on modhakam and decorating with jasmine garland on Fridays, in the sannidhi of Garuda, will ensure the fulfillment of our desires. In Panguni Uthram, the Lord graces Brahmotsavam. We have to note that Garuda vahanam is unique for the Lord alone. Garuda is considered embodiment of Vedas. So, He is the Lord realized in Vedas. Viswayoni is the Lord seated on Garuda.

SVS 153 [Jeta -150] (16.8)

150. OM JETRE NAMA: जेत्रे नम:
Ruling those Two.

We are in Devar Malai. Many have participated in the reconstruction of the temple. Sri Ugra Narasimha is with Sri Maha Lakshmi in His chest. Water here is Brahma theertham as it is associated with the Lord. It is dry now, thanks to the environment contamination, to which we have all contributed. Let us at least pray that the Lord should bless water when the samprokshanam festival takes place after the temple is fully reconstructed. Like vijaya, jeta means victorious. He is responsible for the success of lord Brahma and lord Shiva. In Swami Madhwa commentary, an episode from Srimad Ramayana is illustrated here. Once, as requested by Devas, a competition was arranged between lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. At that time, Lord Vishnu made a hoonkaram [sort of nasal sound to exhibit bravery] and it caused a fracture in lord Shiva's bow. The Devas instantly accepted the superiority of Lord Vishnu. This incident is mentioned in Srimad Ramayana, Bala khand, when Sri Rama met Sri Parashurama. Devas mentioned the name jeta there. Sri Parashurama hands over the bow of Lord Vishnu, to Sri Rama and challenges to shoot arrows from that bow. When Sri Rama successfully does that Sri Parashurama, says that He had realized Who Sri Rama was. He should succeed in driving out our ignorance.

SVS 152 [Vijayo -149] (16.7)

149. OM VIJAYAYA NAMA: विजयाय नम:
Ensures Brahma and Shiva to succeed in their endeavours.

Kshetram Devar mari has transformed to Devar malai. We had visited earlier this place and the Lord is Sri Ugra Narasimha. With contribution of devotees, the renovation works have started. Vijaya means bestowing success and Himself victorious. Swami Alavandar says that Arjuna confused dharma and adharma in the battlefield. The Lord preached Gita and Arjuna became successful - that is Vijaya. Lord Shiva once destroyed Tripura. At that time the Lord was present at the tip of lord Shiva's arrow.

SVS 151 [Anagho- 148 ] (16.6)

148. OM ANAGHAYA NAMA: अनघाय नम:
In the Avatars without trace of papa. That is He is not affected by any papa.

We are in Puliyur today [ 16th September 2008] in Sri Varadaraja Perumal temple. Even per family Rs.50.00 per Kshetram could help a lot. The Lord takes many Avatars. The defects of such births do not affect Him. He is blemishless. While changes in attitude can be observed in us, the Lord remains same. In Srimad Ramayana, in the First sarga, Narada was asked by Valmiki as who is that Human, who exhibits unchanging quality? [साम्प्रधाम गुणवान क:?]. Sage Narada replies, Sri Rama. He is called heya pratyaneeka kalyanaika thanam. Absolutely no bad qualities and full of auspicious qualities. Sri Andal says kuraiyonrum illadha Govinda [குறை ஒன்றும் இல்லாத கோவிந்தா]. In Upanishad it is said that Two birds are in a tree; while one eats the fruits, the other is simply watching. The tree is our body; the bird eating the fruits of the tree is our atman; and the bird watching is the Lord. Avatars are like the roles displayed by an Actor.

SVS 150 [ Jagadija -147] (16.5)

147. OM JAGADADIJAYA NAMA: जगदादिजाय नम:
One of the Trinity in the administration of Jagat [Universe].

Religion is a type of Social service. In some episodes it is planned to show the pitiable position of some of the temples in our country. All are requested to help in redeem these temples. Today [15th September 2008] we are in Vyagrapuri or Puliyur, Sri Varadaraja Perumal temple, on the banks of river Amaravathi, in Karur District. Compound wall, mandapams, etc., are all in wrecked condition. Once this temple must have been flourishing. One is shocked to see the wreckage. Reconstruction is to be taken up. The Lord is even before the formation of the Universe. By knowing Him, we can know all.

SVS 149 [Sahishnu -146] (16.4)

146 OM SAHISHNAVE NAMA: सहिष्णवे नम:
Possessing compassion and patience at devotees' crimes.

Today [12th September 2008] is the Avatara Jayanthi of Sri Hayagriva and also Sri Vamana.

We can worship the Lord Sri Lakshmi Hayagriva of Sri Parakala Mutt.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Of9TMGleSyU/Rlw_3LvbmsI/AAAAAAAABRM/cEPrINW6GWM/Hayagrivar+at+Peetam.jpg

It is said that Sri Saraswati or Sri Sharada Devi, profoundly appreciated the commentary of Swami Ramanuja on the Bramhasutra of Vyasa; and gave the title Sri Bhashyam to the commentary and conferred the title Sri Bhashyakara on Swami Ramanuja. Not contented with those, Sri Sharada Devi also gave her pooja idol of Sri Hayagriva to Swami Ramanuja, and which was later inherited by Swami Desika and by Sri Parakala Mutt. Sahishnu means the Lord shows forbearance at our sins. We hesitate to do good things. But we do evil things readily. In Daya sathakam, Swami Desika personifies His mercy, Sri Daya, as Sri Venkatesa's Queen. He compares that just like Her being a Queen, he is an Emperor of sins [अपराद चक्रवर्थी ]! Using Arjuna as an excuse Lord Sri Krishna delivered Gita for our benefit and finally declared that without any worry [of sins committed], by surrendering unto Him, He would save all. That was due to His forbearance quality. Alwar says that even if Sri Thayar were to recommend contrarily [She would never do it], He would maintain that His devotees would never commit any bad things. Such is His pardoning and patience qualities!

SVS 148 [ Bhoktha -145] (16.3)

145. OM BHOKTRE NAMA: भोक्त्रे नम:
Eagerly accepts the offerings of Devotees.

In Srimad Ramayana, Sabari, a woman born in hunter's family, eagerly awaits the arrival of Sri Rama and keeps ready fruits very carefully collected for Sri Rama to eat. We also should offer whatever we are to eat to the Lord before we consume. The Lord sees our bhava or intention and not on the eatables' quality or quantity. We have to thank Him for providing food for us and eat them as prasad. When we offer the food to Him, Who is in archa form as in temples or in our houses, the Lord is not physically eating but we show the food to Him, which is called nivedanam. That is why He is called bhokta. We should educate our children to practice the habit of offering whatever they eat to the Lord. Once Swami Desika was on tour. On the way, since there was no food with him, he offered mere water to his personal God [சாளக்கிராமம்] and drank the same as dinner for that night. He took rest on the platform [திண்ணை] in one of the houses. It was the house of a grain merchant and he heard the noise of someone handling his grains stock. He found a white horse eating the grains. He thought Swami Desika as the Horse owner and woke up Swami Desika. Realizing that it is the Lord Sri Hayagriva, he requested the merchant to offer milk. The Lord blessed Swami Desika and the merchant. This place is called Pon Vilainda Kalathur [பொன் விளைந்த களத்தூர்] near Chengalpattu.
